MK Productions

Mpumelelo Khumalo, professionally known as MK Productions, is a young artist/producer that is making waves in the music scene. Born and bred in Durban, he has made it his mission to make a name for himself within the industry, through quality music and pure passion for the arts. From an untimely stage in his life, MK has marveled at the power of harmonies and sound. He began his journey in 2008 at a time where magazines gave away free software and he used this to start experimenting with sound and its composition. His 1st musical rendition took place on “MAGIX Music Maker” from NAG Magazine during the height of the International Hip Hop scene. This is where he began experimenting with remaking chart toppers. This was a game-changing moment in his musical career as it made him aware of the connection between a finished product and how he possessed the ability to recreate that very sound. MK’s success began whilst working with his long-time collaborator Dlala Thukzin, whom he crafted chart topping songs alongside like “Ama Gear” and “Sohlala /Sisonke”, which were genre bending singles that saw the entry of the “new wave” 3 step that is currently taking over the charts. In 2023 he released his debut offering Facet 1, which was the first installment of a series of EP's each covering the vast African musical facets, Facet 1 being Amapiano and is set to release in 2025 Facet 2 which is Afro House/New Wave 3 Step which he has had a hand in pioneering.
