Cyril Guiraud

I am a French saxophonist, composer and producer based in Berkeley, California. I co-founded the music label doubleOone and the music collaboration platform everwave along with Mark de Clive-Lowe About my new album "Outer Reach" with Brother Ruckus on drums and Gary Johnson on bass explores the raw freedom of the saxophone trio format. Inspired by Sonny Rollins' legendary "East Broadway Run Down," we wanted to capture that feeling of three musicians in constant dialogue—listening deeply, taking risks, trusting each other. The music moves between straight-ahead swing, intimate ballads, and moments where we push into the unknown together. The new single "Northside Walk Up" is out now. Previous release Omree Gal-Oz and I recorded some tunes we love. "The Single Petal of a Rose" features a collection of our favorite jazz ballads with just saxophone and piano, many without traditional solos because we felt the compositions themselves carry so much emotion. Playing beautiful tunes by Duke Ellington, Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson, Thelonious Monk, plus originals by Omree and myself.
