Formed in Bolton in 1976, Buzzcocks helped define the blueprint for melodic punk rock and power pop with razor-sharp guitar hooks and angst-driven adolescent themes. Led originally by Pete Shelley alongside Steve Diggle, the band combined aggressive three-chord energy with meticulous pop craftsmanship. Their influential catalog of singles and studio albums remains a cornerstone of the British independent music movement.
