Undemandingly enjoyable as we hear the personal stories of six women of the Windrush generation. You could happily spend plenty of time listening to the stories of these ladies. It therefore seems unnecessary (though you can see why she did it) of the director to pause to add newsreel context and such at various points which kind of undercut what's special here, which is the personal stories and personalities of the women.
This is great. Wish it was longer. There’s a moment where one of the women are trying to remember a song and the editor syncs it perfectly with her remembering the words and it’s shit like that makes me happy to be alive tbh.
What a great documentary about women who are very strong and powerful enough to believe in themselves and be ready for any challenges awaiting for them in London. Migration is really a cheat code for life. You just become unbreakable.
