SPOOKTOBER V: DEATH’S DEVICEThere are films out there with so many flaws that instead of hurting the experience, it makes it even way more entertaining. I believe this is one such instance. The performances are by no means great and the visual effects are outdated AF. But, man, was I having a great time! Yes, the I guess CGI (I’ve had so many times where I believe it’s CGI and it’s another thing, so I no longer know with these old movies!) looks terrible but like in that videogame sequence, it not only fit the graphics of videogames of the time so it didn’t hurt the experience, but it was so dumb with the WOAH facial expressions, especially by that kid, that I was gauging with laughter. The horror practical stuff like the bubbling skin was awesome. There’s some great built-in tension, like that boiling water and the baby scene had me on the edge. All in all, again, by no means a perfect film and with plenty of flaws but one that does a great job executing its premise despite all its flaws, delivering on the horror and humor front.SPOOKTOBER V: DEATH’S DEVICETODAY SCHEDULEQuatermass and the PitDemon SeedGhost in the MachineWicked City
