From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Benson Fong ( October 10, 1916 – August 1, 1987) was a Chinese-American character actor. Born in Sacramento, California, Fong was from a mercantile family. After graduating from high school in Sacramento, he studied briefly in China before joining relatives in commercial activities in California. Benson Fong was a prominent Chinese-American character actor who appeared in over 80 films and television shows from the 1940s through the 1980s.
He is best known for playing Tommy Chan in the Charlie Chan detective film series as well as roles in The Keys of the Kingdom and Flower Drum Song.
He made numerous guest appearances on popular classic television series including Perry Mason and My Three Sons.
