Magnetic Skies
CINEMATIC SYNTHPOP FOR SLEEPLESS CITIES Emerging from the heart of the UK’s synth-pop underground, Magnetic Skies fuse the glacial allure of analogue textures with juggernaut choruses and cinematic ambition. Formed in 2019 by vocalist/songwriter Simon Kent and keyboardist Jo Womar, the project quickly evolved into a full live ensemble with the addition of drummer Lenin Alegria — together they craft an electro-retro-futuristic soundscape that lives at the intersection of nostalgia and imagination. Their debut album, Empire Falling, introduced a bold vision rooted in ’80s synth-heritage yet sounding unmistakably now. More recently, the band has explored themes of identity, alienation and hope in their follow-up Fragments, described as “a journey through the fragments of a fractured world.” Inspired by trailblazers like Kraftwerk, David Bowie and Depeche Mode, Magnetic Skies channel those influences through modern production, analogue synths and a songwriting core rooted in emotion and melody. Intelligent electropop for a darkening age (Electronic Sound) Glacial, analogue textures with juggernaut choruses (Classic Pop) A euphoric weightlessness that lifts the listener and instils optimism (Louder Than War) Music to dream by, to love by and to lose yourself in (Blitzed) Euphoric, dreamy synthpop… brilliantly unique (When The Horn Blows)
