Ronboy

Julia Laws spent her formative years on Fidalgo Island off the coast of Washington state. Emerging from the DIY music scene, she steadily built her distinctive sonic identity. After moving to Los Angeles, Laws started working at notable local venue, The Kia Forum, and began to produce and record her own music as Ronboy. Matt Berninger (The National) took notice, inviting Laws to record and perform with him while promoting his debut solo album and have remained consistent collaborators since. In the summer of 2022, Ronboy released her debut album, "Pity To Love." Amidst release, Laws joined Jade Bird for a handful of tours on bass and vocals. Laws has since pinch hit with artists including Linda Perry (4 Non Blondes) and IDLES. Laws herself puts on a yearly benefit show, Ronboy’s Rockin’ Disco, booking performers including Lauren Mayberry (Chvrches), Adam Granduciel (The War on Drugs), Matt Berninger, Aly & AJ, LP, Tomberlin, Indigo De Souza, comedian Chelsea Peretti and more. The 2025 benefit raised nearly $30,000 for LA’s Alexandria House, that offers transitional housing for women and women with children. Now, Ronboy is releasing her EP, “Get Rich,' marking a bold shift toward a heavier sound filled with raw intensity, all while maintaining her signature emotional vulnerability.
