Mumdance is a pioneering electronic artist from the UK, recognised for twisting grime, techno, avant-garde electronics and the UK soundsystem continuum into strange new shapes. Over the past fifteen years, his thinking and output have helped shape the landscape of contemporary electronic music. Recent work includes the MD Series, a collection of two-track recordings that explore themes of euphoria and computer-mediated communication. Alongside solo work, key moments across his career include collaborations with Novelist (‘Take Time’, ‘1 Sec’), the critically acclaimed Proto album with Logos, and a series of 12”s with Pinch. As a DJ, he has performed in over 50 countries and played back-to-back with leading artists across styles and generations. Beyond production, his role as curator, broadcaster, label head and archivist reflects a deep and ongoing commitment to the culture. Through a long-running radio show and an active Discord server, Mumdance has built a global community, creating a calm space to test ideas, share sound and build together outside the pressures of algorithm-driven platforms. Different Circles, the label he co-runs with Logos, is credited with coining the weightless and ping subgenres, offering an alternative blueprint for modern dance music. A near-complete collection of his work can be found at mumdance.com, via the open-access MD Archive.
