Formed in 2004 by Bologna-born Marcella Puppini at London’s Trinity College of Music, the trio revitalised close-harmony singing with daring swing reworkings of classics and pop anthems alike, from Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy to Blondie’s Heart of Glass. Audiences embraced them, sending the album Top 20 in the UK and onto the Billboard chart for nearly a year. Rooted in East London’s underground scene and inspired by Marcella’s time at Vivienne Westwood, their corseted, retro-glam aesthetic helped shape a global vintage revival. “When we started, covers weren’t cool,” says Marcella. “Then suddenly everyone was doing them. We just kept performing live.” To mark their anniversary, original members Marcella Puppini and Kate Mullins reunite with early bandmate Rosanna Schura for their seventh studio album, blending long-saved covers, jazz standards, and new originals. Highlights include a reimagined Happy Birthday, fan favourite Parole Parole, and original songs Hey Sister and Postcards From The Road, a musical scrapbook of two decades touring the world.
