Birmingham quintet Swim Deep announce their fifth studio album Hum, due June 19th via Submarine Cat Records, a defiant blast of alternative rock, dense with distortion and raw, chiming melodies. Written after a sold-out tour of Thailand and China and amid an unexpected line-up change, Hum finds the band rejuvenated and sounding more confident than ever. The album continues the personal journey of There’s A Big Star Outside, exploring loss, family, and responsibility, inspired by frontman Austin “Ozzy” Williams’ experience of new parenthood. Featuring contributions from new collaborator J.J. Buchanan alongside longstanding members Cavan McCarthy, James Balmont and Thomas Fiquet. Hum turns struggle into momentum — the band’s heaviest, most adventurous, and most uplifting record in years.
Swim Deep plays alternative rock and indie pop, often described with elements of dream pop and a "beach grunge" sound, as heard on their album Hum.
