Beck To Pony

Nowhere did the German reunification happen with such gusto as on the dancefloor. Living proof of that are Beck (Ulrike Beck) and Pony (Katja Ponesky), two DJs who entered the club circuit from the opposite sides of the Iron Curtain - when Beck was busting out moves to Biggie and Pac with American G.I.s stationed in military bases around Stuttgart, Pony was congregating with her fellow worshippers at E-Werk and other techno temples springing up across the post-Wall Berlin. After becoming part of the same circle of DJs and club organisers, Beck and Pony kept slinging beats for 20-odd years until deciding to fulfil their lifelong dream of co-producing own songs. Having been introduced to producer Henrik ‘Henne’ Müller of the Riverside Studios, they went on to create their own sound, a Röyksopp- meets-Goldfrapp hybrid of neon-lit nu-disco and soulful synth-pop associated with the Naughty Noughties. Their debut release under the moniker Beck to Pony is slated for release on July 7 via Mobilee Records.
