The Australian saxophonist Adrian Tully, described by the Nürnberger Nachrichten as ‘a magician’ on the saxophone has lived in Berlin since 2010. He plays soprano saxophone in the sonic.art saxophone quartet. With sonic.art he has toured Europe, Paraguay, Brazil, Algeria und Australia. Recent highlights have included performances at the Canberra International Music Festival, Mosel Musikfestival, WDR Funkhauskonzerte, MDR Musiksommer, Grafenegg Festival, Kurt Weill Fest, Musikfestspiele Saar and Flagey Brussels. As a soloist, Adrian has performed Mauricio Kagel’s Burleske with the NDR Choir and Lera Auerbach’s Galgenlieder together with sonic.art and the WDR Choir. Orchestral concerto appearances with sonic.art have been with the Nürnberger Symphoniker, Aachener Sinfonieorchester and the Staatskapelle Weimar. Adrian has performed as a casual musician with over 20 German orchestras, including the Berliner Philharmoniker, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Konzerthausorchester Berlin and the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester with conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Riccardo Chailly, Andris Nelsons, Vladimir Jurowski and Ivan Fischer. He has performed with Ensemble Modern, Musikfabrik, unitedberlin and at festivals such as Acht Brücken, musica viva, Pyramidale, musica nova and Unerhörte Musik. Adrian teaches saxophone at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover. He is also an experienced copyist and woodwind doubler. Photos: Michael Jungblut
