Born in 1977 in Oakville, Ontario, SAGA fused pop hooks with progressive ambition. The original line-up—Michael Sadler (vocals), Ian Crichton (guitar), Jim Crichton (bass), Peter Rochon (keys), Steve Negus (drums)—debuted their eponymous album in 1978. The album exploded in Europe via imports, securing a global deal.Hits “On the Loose,” “Wind Him Up,” and “It’s Time” drove multi-platinum sales in Canada and gold worldwide. In 1982, SAGA won the Juno Award for Most Promising Group. They toured relentlessly, becoming the first Canadian rock act behind the Iron Curtain, and released the pioneering digital live album In Transit. With 22 studio albums, various LIVE albums, compilations and over 10 million records sold, and nearly 50 years later, SAGA’s timeless legacy endures. Current 2025 line-up: Michael Sadler – co-founder, lead vocals, keyboards Ian Crichton – co-founder, guitars Jim Gilmour – keyboards, vocals (joined 1979) Mike Thorne – drums (joined 2012) Dusty Chesterfield – bass (joined 2018)
