In the heart of a male dominated death metal landscape, stands Maatkare – an all-female lineup channelling the essence of ancient Egypt through their fierce musical expression. Founded in March 2020, this band of ambitious women has been steadily carving their path, and with the successful release of their debut album ‘Rise To Power’ in October 2024, they are expected to release their second album in early 2026. In crafting their music, Maatkare draws inspiration from the rich tapestry of death and black metal, with influences from Nile, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Behemoth, Arch Enemy and Kataklysm. Infused with the untold stories of powerful women who have shaped history. Channelling this aggressive femininity is vocalist Janneke de Rooy (Ex Beyond the Pale), guitarist Georgia Bell (Ex Pretty Little Enemy and session guitarist for Harper), bassist Amie Chatterley (Dakesis and WomenOwar) and drummer Natalie Gaines (Voyd). Sirens of sound, women of history, Maatkare has arrived.
