Haider

Haider Masroor is a British electronic music artist, DJ, and founder of the Breaker Breaker Recordings imprint. He first emerged from Sheffield’s Bassline scene under the alias DS1, gaining early recognition with a string of 12”s across Bassline and UK Funky, including a now iconic UK Funky remix of Tempa T’s Next Hype. A natural evolution into Grime saw his music championed by the likes of Plastician, Spooky Bizzle, and Starkey, for whom he released an EP on the Slit Jockey imprint. In 2015, whilst studying at Goldsmiths in London, he launched Breaker Breaker with the debut EP from Ross from Friends. The label quickly became known for pushing forward-thinking artists such as Night Tapes, The Colours That Rise, and RGL. Around the same time, Haider also played a key role in managing Yussef Kamaal, helping secure their first tour and facilitating the release of their landmark Black Focus LP on Brownswood Recordings. Beginning in 2018, he released a run of acclaimed solo EPs under his own name on Breaker Breaker, Aus Music, and Warehouse Music, fusing electro, deep house, and UK bass. He also delivered standout remixes for artists such as Kelly Lee Owens and Effy. Now focused primarily on running Breaker Breaker and developing new creative projects, Haider remains an influential figure in the UK electronic music landscape.
