Blood Quartet

Pioneer of the New York No Wave with the bands Mars and Don King, Mark Cunningham has been part of the Barcelona, Spain, music underground for almost 30 years, performing solo, with his own groups Raeo, Convolution, Aleatory Grammar and Bèstia Ferida, as a member of Pascal Comelade ́s Bel Canto Orchestra and in countless local and international collaborations (Lydia Lunch, Arto Lindsay, Christian Marclay, Lolo and Sosaku, Etant Donnes...). Blood Quartet was formed in early 2015 in Barcelona from a fortuitous collaboration between Cunningham and members of the Catalan underground rock trio Murnau B: Lluís Rueda, Kike Bela. Later the percussionist Adrià Cubells was added to the band. Inspiring poet and music journalist Byron Coley has writen that: "Blood Quartet plays insanely great avant garde rock music." Since the beginning Blood Quartet has combined their concert activity, in numerous appearance in festivals and clubs around Spain and Europe, with original film scores ("Quiero lo eterno", Miguel Ángel Blanca, 2017), live soundtracks for silent films “The Adventures of Prince Achmed” ( Lotte Reiniger, 1926) and "The Seashell and the Clergyman" (Germaine Dulac, 1928) and collaborating in shows with dance and poetry, with artists such as Blanca Haddad or Konic THTR.
