Andrè Schuen

Baritone Andrè Schuen hails from La Val in Ladin (South Tyrol, Italy), where he grew up speaking three languages - Ladin, Italian and German, a versatility that is reflected in his current vocal repertoire. After many years of playing the cello as his main instrument, he decided to study singing at the University Mozarteum Salzburg with Prof. Horiana Branisteanu, as well as Lied and Oratorio with Prof. Wolfgang Holzmair. After his studies Andrè Schuen was an ensemble member of the Graz Opera. Lied singing is particularly important to Andrè Schuen, together with his piano partner Daniel Heide. The duo is appearing regularly at the Schubertiade in Hohenems and Schwarzenberg, where they performed all three Schubert song cycles in August 2021. Andrè Schuen can be heard all over the world in song centres such as London's Wigmore Hall, Teatro della Zarzuela in Madrid, Schubertiada Vilabertran, Heidelberger Frühling, Rheingau Music Fetival or the Oxford Lieder Festival, as well as at renowned concert venues such as Munich's Prinzregententheater, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw or Vienna's Konzerthaus. In In 2017, Andrè Schuen celebrated his US debut in 2017 together with Andreas Haefliger, with recitals at the Tanglewood Festival as well as the Aspen Music Festival. Schuen’s recordings together with Daniel Heide received rave reviews. Most recently, Schubert's Schöne Müllerin was released by Deutsche Grammophon.
