Las Lloronas
Only five years ago, Las Lloronas were working on their debut album Soaked. Since then, they have released a second album, Out of the Blue, and performed hundreds of concerts across Europe and beyond. In 2024, the group received the Outstanding Live Performance award at the Belgian Worldwide Music Awards. Now, Marieke Werner (DE) and Amber in ’t Veld (ES/NL) - following the departure of former member Sura Sol - have joined forces with Àngels Asensi (ES). Enriched by Àngels Asensi’s cello and voice, the new trio is currently working on their next album, further exploring and expanding the signature elements of Las Lloronas: rich polyphonic voices, influences from diverse musical traditions, and poetic, powerful multilingual lyrics. Las Lloronas seek depth in simplicity, beauty in rawness and playfulness in detail. Their work explores what it means to be human in a more-than-human world, and what it means to be Lloronas – criers – in times of unseizable crises and collective grief. Through poetry and sound, through tenderness and authenticity, they express how humbling and mind-blowing it is to be alive, and offer consolation, connection, and beauty.
