Queer, ντόπιος καλλιτέχνης grunge
Cosplaying as Nirvana fronted by Lou Reed. My name was a typo on The Vandelles’ 2007 EP I produced on pirated recording software in my parents Rockville home. That was my first band out of high school, Sue and I met in college because we both loved The Jesus and Mary Chain, almost ten years later we toured with them. Simulation or not, that was sick. After touring through 2013 I turned to backstage production as audio engineer for nyc cable access shows The Special Without and Chris Gethard Presents. During this I released Beatles/Beach Boys mashup Pet Peppers where I recomposed the songs of Pet Sounds and Sgt Peppers into one album and then fully re-recorded the compositions with my second band Hellbirds. My husband and I also expanded to live production in Brooklyn partnering with AdHoc to create events at The Park Church Co-op. After lockdown I started La Fam Recordings in Bushwick. Being there has felt like being fourteen again back in my parent’s house; just me, a few instruments and a computer. What started as riffs and sketches during the pandemic became my album 'If You Listen To This You're Gay' about the off putting otherness of being Queer and Human inside the hurricane of today's culture war. Last summer I read an interview where Charli Xcx said she wants her next record to sound like Lou Reed and I thought why wait? After my cover of 360 went somewhat viral on TikTok I decided to record and release my favorites as 'brat and it's rock and roll but also still brat'
