Underground καλλιτέχνης indie folk
Alternative Folk duo, From The Workshop, craft unconventional, enticing harmonies and driving rhythms that capture the hearts of those who dare to listen. With guitar, kick-drum and ukulele bass, they bring a suitcase full of influences, including Frank Turner, Show of Hands, Joni Mitchell, Vocal Few and Radiohead, creating a unique blend of heartfelt folk music. From The Workshop started in Bromley, 2022 as a solo project, with singer songwriter Jonnie Temple. After fronting many bands for many years, from ska punk (The Blunt Skulls) to swing/ragtime rock (Little Blue Light) he turned his attention to a solo career with a desire to "write beautiful songs". In 2023 recording began for the solo debut album with the aim to record three 7 track mini albums. However wanting to develop the project further, during 2024 he joined forces with folk singer Helen Rosemary. In September 2024, "F:orward" was released - the first of a trio of intended mini-abums. Their second album, and first as a duo, "T:owards" was released in August 2025.
They play alternative folk music, blending punk-edged grit with soaring harmonies, drawing influences from artists like Joni Mitchell and Radiohead.
