Her Words Kill

Formed in Hertfordshire, UK in 2002, Her Words Kill were pioneers of the post-hardcore movement emerging from the UK underground. Blending metallic riffs, hardcore breakdowns, and dreamlike melodic passages, their sound captured both aggression and emotion in equal measure. Across their five-year run, the band released one EP (I Will Not Die Her Hero, 2004) and one full-length album (Load My Revolver, Baby, 2005), showcasing an evolution from raw UK hardcore roots to more technical, emotionally charged songwriting. The lineup shifted frequently, but brothers Luke and Josh Pickett remained at the core, driving the band’s sound and vision. Sharing stages with Bring Me the Horizon, Enter Shikari, and Gallows, Her Words Kill built a reputation for intense live performances and heartfelt lyricism. Though they disbanded in 2007, their sound continued to influence the hardcore scene. In 2025, their track “Sir, This Is a Cutthroat Fashion” went viral on TikTok, with Luke Pickett’s haunting line “Better pack your tears into a suitcase, and run away with my heart” becoming an anthem for a new generation. The millions of streams and renewed global attention are testament to the band’s unique sound and songwriting. Luke Pickett remains an active musician, continuing his solo career.
