IOTO

IOTO is the sonic identity of German composer and producer Marat Schacht, known for his synth-driven, cinematic, and deeply immersive sound. Born on the remote Kamchatka Peninsula, Marat spent his early childhood surrounded by volcanic landscapes, vast snowfields, the endless horizon of the Pacific Ocean and the staggering beauty of the sky above it - images that formed an early fascination with the cosmos and continue to echo through his music. These formative impressions, powerful and surreal, have shaped the emotional tone of IOTO’s sound: melodic, melancholic, atmospheric and evocative. After relocating to Germany, he began exploring music and eventually diving into music production. In 2008 Marat co-founded the electronic dance music band "Hysteria!" with the vocalist and guitarist "Debbie Digital", counting numerous releases on virtually all leading labels of the genre. His now-closed solo project "Goodstreet" saw him composing for video games like "SPACE ENGINE" and contributing to TV commercials and short films. Yet, the need to complete creative freedom led to the birth of IOTO in 2020 - a project unconstrained by genre-conventions, where sound design, emotional storytelling and experimentation merge into one.
