Buzz Gravelle

Buzz Gravelle is one of the world's pre-eminent fretless classical guitarists and composers. He has a unique style that combines elements of classical , folk, jazz, and many different world musics, creating distinctive and expressive soundscapes. Buzz’s approach to the fretless guitar allows him to produce smooth, vocal-like melodies and dynamic compositions that showcase his technical skill and musical creativity. His first album of original music for fretless guitar "The Realm of Endless Concepts" (2019) broke new ground in the possibilities for fretless classical guitar and found a worldwide audience. Buzz Gravelle's second album of original music for fretless classical guitar "The Mirage of the White Rainbow" (2024) resumed where his previous album ended, exploring exotic scales, non-Western modalities, and microtonality. It is virtuosic, emotional, and accessible while also uniquely expanding the vocabulary of the Western art-music guitar tradition. His newest album "A Year of Living Quietly" (2025) is the third of his trilogy of albums of original music for fretless classical guitar and is out now.
