Chateau Noir

Chateau Noir is a gothic electronic duo from Los Angeles, formed in 2023 by interdisciplinary artist-musician Emily Babette Gross and multi-instrumentalist Brent Wyman. Emerging out of a shared love for synth-heavy music from the 1980s, horror films, and immersive gothic world-building, style, and decor, they create music that feels like stepping into a dystopian vampire film. In 2024, Chateau Noir debuted their cinematic darkwave sound with their self-titled album Chateau Noir. Opening with "Skeleton Key (An Introduction)" and closing with the title track "Chateau Noir", the record unfolds as a concept album set within a fictitious haunted castle filled with ghosts, vampires, romance, and despair. At the heart of Chateau Noir lies a punk DIY ethos and a drive to create a Gesamtkunstwerk—or "a total work of art". Beyond the music, the duo creates their own videos, photography, and visuals, culminating in an immersive world that invites listeners to lose themselves within it.
