Most Personal thrives in controlled chaos. The duo, Lainey Gonzales and Jesús Acosta make music that builds tension just to twist it. Guitars twitch, vocals slip in and out of pitch, drums hit like they’re trying to outrun the song itself. It’s restless, a little bratty, and rarely goes where you expect. What began as a few writing sessions for Gonzales’s solo work turned into a kind of sonic sparring match, with both artists pushing each other into stranger, sharper territory. A chance meeting between Acosta and Louie Diller (HOLYCHILD) added a third sensibility to the mix. Diller now co-produces the project’s debut EP with Acosta, bringing structure and sheen without dulling its sharper edges. Despite what the name might suggest, Most Personal isn’t a confession.
