In 2027, the film Les Demoiselles de Rochefort will celebrate its sixtieth anniversary. The Yellow Socks Orchestra continues its cycle, emblematic of the close collaboration between Jacques Demy and Michel Legrand, begun with Les Parapluies de Cherbourg. An irresistible pulse, unforgettable themes that have become global standards, a brilliant orchestra mastering every situation and a terribly inventive piano: the romantic cross-overs of the Demoiselles de Rochefort, "two hearts, four pupils to embark on allegretto", inspired Michel Legrand a jubilant soundtrack to the measure of the American models invoked by Jacques Demy, the musicals West Side Story and Singin' in the Rain. This new ciné-concert creation by the Yellow Socks Orchestra shares the pleasure of a score imagined for four hands by the two "soul brothers" – no fewer than seventeen songs, lyrics by Demy, music by Legrand – and a swirling human comedy with a dream cast.
