Summer Dream Forever

Suddenly, things are taking off for pianist Chaerin Im – and deservedly so. Since arriving in Amsterdam in 2017 to study jazz piano, the South Korean artist has blossomed into a versatile musician who refuses to be pigeonholed. Jazz, indie pop, expansive electronic soundscapes: it all converges in her music. And now, for the very first time, Chaerin fronts her own band, a quartet forged with three other powerhouses from the Amsterdam scene on guitar, bass and drums. It’s no wonder newspaper NRC named Chaerin Im at the start of this season as a young artist destined for greatness. Midnight resets The Chaerin Im Quartet’s debut album was released this spring: Midnight resets. This album is a delightful mix of grooves, electronics, adventurous improvisations and featherlight melodies. The title track even drops a metal riff. That’s the magic of Chaerin Im. With a musical imagination that knows no bounds, she is ready to wow the world. Outdoor concert This Terrace Concert is an outdoor event. The sun can be intense and the wind can be quite strong near the water, so come prepared. In the event of unfavourable weather conditions, the performance will be held indoors in the Entrance Hall, which overlooks the river IJ.
