The Belly Button of the World
Ντόπια, ωμή βραδιά pop
In this concert event, Goran Bregović summarizes his vision of global coexistence. A son of Sarajevo—a city that has been Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, Yugoslavian, and finally Bosnian—Bregović explores the diverse cultural threads of his hometown. 'The Belly Button of The World' is a symphonic project written for solo violin, choir, a gypsy band, and a symphony orchestra. The performance features three violin soloists representing the Western classical, Klezmer, and Oriental traditions, allegorically uniting the three religions that define Sarajevo. The work serves as musical proof that mutual listening and cultural communication are possible.
