Amalgam Melee
Underground, ωμή βραδιά electronic
Finnish choreographer Marika Peura presents a one-off performance of Amalgam Melee, a work that explores the artist’s inner contradictions in relation to cultural heritage, Brownness, Whiteness, and the hierarchies of power and violence embedded within society. On stage, Peura wears symbols drawn from distinct cultural lineages—pink tsinelas and a traditional Finnish hela knife belt—to explore how the body is shaped by and implicated in mechanisms of power. The work delves into the emotional and expressive body within a chaotic "third space" to reach a political sense of self. Presented in partnership with the Finnish Institute in the UK and Ireland and produced in London by Alice Agency.
