The Osees are the latest incarnation of songwriter, singer and guitarist John Dwyer’s group. Dwyer has been active on the San Francisco indie scene since the late ’90s, working with several bands including the Coachwhips, Pink & Brown, Yikes, Up Its Alive, and Swords & Sandals. He initially formed OCS as a vehicle for experimental instrumentals produced in his home studio. Over time, the project evolved into a full band and operated under various names including the Oh Sees, the Ohsees, Thee Oh Sees, and simply Oh Sees, before eventually settling on Osees.
