Seine markante Stimme und herausragende Kompositionen brachten ihm 2022 den Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik ein. Der musikalische Tausendsassa reflektiert in seinen Texten mal poetisch, mal bissig über das Leben und die Welt, wobei Melancholie auf Weltschmerz trifft, ohne in Larmoyanz zu verfallen.
