This is an exciting new band led by one of the UK’s most promising young saxophonists R-J Gilbert. Having first made a name for himself performing with the iconic US-born drummer Doug Sides, R-J has more recently been featured with the ensemble of award-winning UK drummer Clark Tracey. For this performance, he is joined by Marcus Coates on piano, Macy Wright on bass, and Kefan Hu on drums. The group will present their own interpretations of classic jazz standards alongside original compositions written by R-J and other band members. Expect a night of straight-ahead, swinging bebop and contemporary jazz from some of the most talented emerging players on the scene.
