Alphaville is a German new wave and synth-pop band formed in 1982, famously known for their 1980s hits like "Big in Japan", "Sounds Like a Melody", and "Forever Young". Founded in Münster by lead singer Marian Gold and keyboardist Bernhard Lloyd, the group originally operated under the name Forever Young before adopting their current moniker, inspired by the Jean-Luc Godard film. Their debut album achieved significant international success, particularly in Europe. Over the decades, the band has explored various musical themes from cosmic concepts to experimental aesthetics, eventually returning to their synth-pop roots. Today, Marian Gold remains the sole founding member, continuing to perform their classic discography alongside a new generation of musicians.
