Tom Wheatley - AGON
Underground, αργή βραδιά free jazz
Tom Wheatley presents a live exploration of his score for AGON, the directorial debut of Giulio Bertelli. The film follows a triptych of female athletes competing in a fictional Olympic Games, with the music serving as a conceptual mirror to their disciplines. While the original score was intricately processed in the studio to blur the lines between music and sound design, this event offers a unique opportunity to experience the chamber ensemble's improvisational materials detached from the film. The performance features a specialized ensemble where instruments represent specific athletic contexts: percussion for judo, cello for fencing, and saxophone for rifle shooting, accompanied by feedback synthesizer and bagpipes. This event coincides with the release of the official soundtrack on PAN records.
