Tijdens deze Cello Biënnale worden alle werken van Beethoven voor cello en piano uitgevoerd, verdeeld over vier concerten. Marie-Elisabeth Hecker neemt het leeuwendeel voor haar rekening samen met haar vaste partner, meesterpianist Martin Helmchen. In dit concert spelen zij Beethovens eerste en de laatste cellosonate in de reeks Alles van Beethoven. Emmanuelle Bertrand speelt behalve Beethovens Bei Männern welche Liebe fühlen twee werken uit de Franse romantiek: Solitude van Rita Strohl en de monumentale Eerste sonate van Saint-Saëns.
