De 23-jarige Nikola Meeuwsen werd, als eerste Nederlander ooit, eersteprijswinnaar van de prestigieuze Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd in Brussel. Op dit afwisselende recital brengt hij een programma variërend van Bachs Chaconne en Ravels suite Le tombeau de Couperin tot Mendelssohns Variaties sérieuses. De kroon op de avond is Beethovens Pianosonate nr. 23, door de componist zelf 'Appassionata' genoemd vanwege het hartstochtelijke karakter.
