Watching this sent me back to high school, and to impersonating Beavis and Butt-head incessantly in front of girls, and then I died of retroactive embarrassment. RIP me.
If I had to show someone the 1990s in movie form, it would be Beavis and Butt-Head Do America. It's all here: television addiction, guffawing teenage apathy, nonsensical toilet humour, grim satire, Jerry Springer-esque sleaze, a very MTV trip out sequence, and Chelsea Clinton. This is one of the few movies that — much like its titular characters — I laugh almost constantly throughout. I love that the film's protagonists have no idea about the actual plot of the movie that is going on in the sidelines. Everything happens around them as they mindlessly shuffle across America finding double entendres in every sentence, causing horrific highway accidents, watching donkeys shit, and wah-cking off in caravans. This movie really shouldn't work, but, outside of the South Park movie, I can't think of a better feature length adaptation of a television show.
