Don’t understand the hate for this. Im delighted that we have one of our greatest modern directors contributing in his own quirky way to the highest art form. This is definitive proof of Haneke’s insane knowledge of the arts which he displays frequently within his moviesCosi isn’t the obvious choice for a Haneke-directed opera, but it’s a triumph.

I've only seen three or four operas in my life, but I can say that this is different from what you usually see. And the music is great if you like that kind of music.But I'm definitely not the type who enjoys watching an opera for three hours. It doesn't matter who is involved.

I also loved how poorly disguised Ferrando and Guglielmo were, and how eventually they stopped even being disguised and yet Dorabella and Fiordiligi don't 'recognise' them because that's really not even the point by then, right?
