just because your ORPHAN FRIENDS left you….
🏎️ For as long as I can remember, I have been a big fan of all things related to Europa Park. So when it was announced that their characters would finally get their own movie, I was really excited to watch it. I was on vacation at the park and had been watching it in 4DX every day, so I didn’t think there was a better moment to check it out—of course I went to see it! While it didn’t end up being the best animated film of the year—that wasn’t my expectation at all—it was still a really fun time for a Europa Park fan. Story-wise, it was as expected—nothing new, which is normal for a kids’ movie, because at this point basically everything has been done already. But I must admit they did a pretty good job of making a kind of F1-for-kids that takes a lot of inspiration from Mario Kart. That made the film fly by at an amazing pace and never felt boring, which is a special accomplishment on its own!Because I watched the film in a theatre in Germany, it was dubbed in German, so I did not know any of the voice actors. It must be said, though, that they all did an excellent job with the voices, because I have heard way worse; after seeing the trailer the English version does not seem bad at all either, so maybe I will watch that one day as well! The animation style and its quality were by far the thing I was the most afraid of, because that can very quickly ruin an entire film, but to my big surprise it was actually of very high quality. I would not exactly put it in the same league as Disney, but it is absolutely not far behind that, and I really hope that many of you go to check this one out! Most of the jokes in here also made me chuckle a bit, especially some returning gags that they sprinkled in here and there. A big plus of the film was Volker Bertelman’s enjoyable score, who, because of his awesome work on Conclave, is someone I really was not expecting here. But basically every track on it was crazy good, and I am very happy I got the chance to buy it on a golden vinyl record! At the end of the day, I would never call this an Oscar-worthy masterpiece, but for what it’s worth this was by all means a fun film for the entire family and a love letter to all fans of Europa Park. It already left me wanting to see much more of it, because I can never get enough of this! 🏁
