The next chapter of Detective Feluda series set in the holy city of Benaras. This one is about a theft of a very valuable antique gold statue. Satyajit Ray reveals the villain at the beginning itself but how each twists were removed by Feluda was fantastic. The knife throwing sequence blew me away with anxiety. Soumitra Chatterjee again proved he is the best choice as Feluda. It may not be a Sonar Kella but it definitely is in a class of its own.81/100
The sequel can be hit or miss but Ray never misses the mark to Feluda's stories. It is refreshing to see that there is a crisp story for this movie because how meticulous and organized the movie is in terms of atmosphere. Ray uses the twist to hook the viewer as well that is so good. Even the knife throwing scene which was like the best Ray scene in my book and I will never forget that scene how it gave me an anxiety. The characters in this movie are memorable as usual. Once again, Soumitra gives an entertaining and memorable performance as Feluda but for me Utpal Dutta gives a standout performance as Meghanraj. Santosh Dutta also brings a charming and funny performance. Once again, this might not the the "Sonar Kella" but I had a good time watching this.8/10Satyajit Ray Ranks
