a film that bravely asks that question: “what if the peasants revolt of 1381 was filmed like an episode of the office?”

me when it’s 1381 and i’m a priest with a low taper fade
A movie that almost seems like it doesn’t believe in itself, to the point of almost ruining itself. The story is interesting and the message is current and impactful, even if it’s a little too didactic but the problem is that the movie makes itself heavier with too many exaggerated visual and directing choices. You can’t spend two hours watching the camera shake like in an episode of The Office, you can’t have a constant, incredibly loud noise in the background that makes it hard to understand half of the dialogue, and you can’t keep repeating the same ideas for so long, only to rush through the ending. The movie is still pretty good overall and I wasn’t bored, but it had a strong idea and it should have let that idea speak for itself instead of covering it with so many unnecessary things.
