A truly incredible documentary about the creative process, the viewer and devotion. Isaac mizrahi is just fabulous and everything that comes out his mouth is poetry: hilarious, brilliant, architectural poetry. Examples: “what do they want? a longer short skirt? we did that last year!”, “it’s almost impossible to have the right style without the right dogs”, and “it’s a sort of pink parisian poodle thing”. It’s giving PERSONALITY and it just emphasizes that unfortunately most people these days are so fucking boring. Despite “realness” and “vulnerability” being the most overused marketing trick in the book, this documentary shows me that you’re not really being REAL until the moment you’re filmed reacting to the front page news that one of your contemporaries is drawing from the exact same influences as you, at the exact same time and worst of all, they’re probably going to drop their shit before you drop yours. I’ve definitely been there - but not with a camera in my face. Perhaps i’m a fraud? There’s a romance and decadence here that I think we all crave: it’s “gowns” not dresses, it’s liza minnelli popping backstage before the show, it’s kate and naomi and linda and carla and shalom, it’s gossip, it’s talking about the press and being IN the press, it’s dinner in paris, it’s new york, it’s smoking ALL THE TIME, it’s a cunty little strut. i fucking DIE.
