Metamorphosis, a Virtual Opera

Metamorphosis is a unique reimagining of Kafka's 1912 novella, presented as a virtual opera created by composer Nuno Lobo and video artist Pedro Lobo. Through this innovative production, the musicians narrate the story of Gregor, the protagonist, who undergoes a surreal transformation that profoundly impacts his daily life and familial relationships. The production offers an immersive, cinematic experience that addresses contemporary themes of the digital age, including the loss of identity, alienation, and the pressures imposed by family and society. Maat Saxophone Quartet is a Dutch-Portuguese quartet. In 2022, the quartet was honored with the Dutch Classical Talent Award. More recently, they were selected for the prestigious European Concert Hall Organisation's (ECHO) Rising Stars series, providing them the opportunity to perform at Europe’s most renowned venues during the 2025-2026 season. This concert takes place at the Plein Theatre as part of the Nieuwe Noten Amsterdam series.
