Alc Drinks 00:00 - 06:30 each night timetable Exactly 30 years ago, in December 1994, the dark sun opened a portal—a passage that transported us from the world we knew into an endless universe of sonic frequencies, where time and space have no limits, and everything becomes possible. This audiovisual experience, infused with revelations, neo-futuristic energy, and neo-romantic quality, created a unique world where the artistic journey is in constant evolution. At its core, our work has been like a rare flower, accessible only to those ready to follow the heart of a true explorer. The décor of the Dark Sun is adorned with android statues and dolls representing Persephone, the Goddess of the Underworld; Nuit, the Goddess of the Stars; and others, created by George Drivas between 1994 and 1999. Among these is a life-sized modeled statue of H.R. Giger’s iconic Xenomorph Alien. The alchemical essence of the dark sun is woven from mystical and creative influences: the esoteric visions of Aleister Crowley, the surreal artistry of H.R. Giger, the dark imagination of Clive Barker, and the deep connection to solar symbols and their magical commands. The visuals, projected through slides and video since 1994, are the artistic imprints of this adventure: H.R. Giger, Derek Jarman, David Cronenberg, P.J. Witkin, David Lynch, Maya Deren, Zdzisław Beksiński, Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray, Hans Richter, Jean Cocteau, Luis Buñuel, Salvador Dalí, Kenneth Anger, Jean-Luc Godard, Stanley Kubrick, Peter Greenaway, Pier Paolo Pasolini, and countless other enigmatic and creative figures who left their mark on art and culture. The live gigs we organized—or those hosted by our "kindred spirits" in our space—have always been acts of love, driven by relentless dedication and passion for this music. Profit was never the goal; rather, it was the selfless transmission of the art and the experiences we live through. We've had resident DJ sets by George Drivas and many talented local DJs. Additionally, we've hosted some exceptional programs featuring renowned artists like Patrick Codenys (Front 242), Daniel Myer(Architect, Haujobb), Klive and Nigel Humberstone (In The Nursery), Odilon's Grip , Emad Dabiri (Sarin), William Maybelline (Qual), and Volkan Caner (She Past Away), Nicolas Van Meirhaeghe (Empusae), Manos Chrysovergis (Last Days Of S.E.X.) MUSIC GENRES Dark Ambient, Post-Industrial, Drone, Minimal Techno (in the style of Pan Sonic), Industrial Techno, Neoclassical, Ethereal, Neofolk, Technoid, Rhythmic Noise, New Wave, Avant-Garde, Experimental, Synth, and of course, Darkwave in all its forms. Our Motto: “Dark Sun: 30 Years of eXistenz” (eXistenZ, a term inspired by Cronenberg’s eXistenZ, symbolizes our parallel existence in this world.) (Musick for the Evolution of the Species) "Musick" refers to Aleister Crowley’s concept of true music—the magical, transformative music that guides evolution and self-discovery. Finally, the symbol of the Dark Sun is an alchemical secret emblem.
