MAS VERBENA RHYTHMS OF BRAZIL

On Saturday 19th Oct at PLEX (Keramikou 28, Athens), Más Verbena is proud to present a night to celebrate Brazil and it’s rhythms with a special vinyl set from Daniel Cantagalo @danielgoiana bringing us some unique sounds all the way from Brazil. He will be joined by @terangabeat and @stivako to complete the evening with music from Lusophone Africa, the Caribbean, South America and more. Daniel Goiana a.k.a. Daniel Cantagalo from Fortaleza, based in São Paulo, is a DJ and a Professor in Sociology whose research focuses on a cultural expedition of Caribbean influenced music of the North and North-East of Brazil (Forró, Carimbó, Lambada and more). This event is in collaboration with “Free the Kitsch – Athens Film Fest” @freethekitsch Who will be showing some movie screening from 18h, followed by a Picó Sound System party from 22h. Free the Kitsch – Athens Film Fest is a celebration of film, performance and sustainable fashion that aims to showcase the most controversial, DADA, queer, underground, experimental, DIY, surprisingly beautiful works and to question the boundaries between proper and improper, mainstream and underground, popular and fine art. It takes place in different cultural spaces in Athens, in collaboration with socio-cultural projects, independent artists and collectives.
