House Music Events in Athens

By Mood Editorial · Last updated 18 Apr 2026

Athens runs two distinct house music circuits at the same time. Underground Gazi - dark rooms in Kerameikos and the streets around the former gasworks - operates year-round with resident DJs, deep programming, and a crowd that follows the music rather than the calendar. The Athens Riviera - Bolivar, Island, Akrotiri along the coast south of the city - activates from May to September with international bookings, sea views, and an atmosphere that's closer to Ibiza's off-season than anything else in Greece.

Both circuits are indexed on Mood. The house filter shows only what's relevant, so you're not sorting through rock concerts to find Friday's Bolivar lineup.

  1. 1

    Browse all Athens events

Start with Browse Athens for every indexed event in the city. Mood covers Athens across all genres - sorting by date, genre, or venue. The full calendar is your starting point before narrowing down.

  2. 2

    Filter to house

Use the House in Athens page for filtered results. This strips out techno, live music, and rock concerts - showing only house-tagged events. Deep house, melodic house, disco, and progressive house all appear here alongside the pure house nights.

  3. 3

Season check - summer vs winter

Athens house divides sharply by season. The Athens Riviera (Bolivar, Island, Akrotiri) is May to September only. Year-round house is in Gazi and Kerameikos underground clubs. If you're visiting in summer and want the beach club experience, check the Athens Summer guide first.

  4. 4

    Check tonight

Last-minute? Tonight in Athens shows events starting in the next few hours. Athens clubs open around 1am and don't hit full energy until 2:30am - arriving before midnight puts you in the city's bar scene, which is a reasonable start.

  5. 5

Buy tickets - Bolivar sells out

Bolivar and Island Riviera nights regularly sell out for major bookings, especially in July and August. Buy in advance where Mood's checkout is available. For underground Gazi nights, walk-up is usually fine - but some international headliner shows at Dybbuk or Ohm sell presale tickets that save you queuing.

Athens House - By Area

Gazi & Kerameikos
The centre of Athens underground club life. Dybbuk, Ohm, and several adjacent venues run year-round. House events here tend toward darker, deeper sounds - minimal, deep house, and occasional disco nights. Most active Friday and Saturday from 1am.
Athens Riviera
The coastline south of Athens - Glyfada, Agios Kosmas, Vouliagmeni, Varkiza. Bolivar, Island, and Akrotiri run house events from May to September. Dramatically different to the city venues: open air, sea views, later start times (arrive at midnight), and a more festival-adjacent atmosphere.
Kolonaki & City Centre
Boutique clubs and DJ bars with house-leaning music policies. Toy Bar is the standout. More intimate than Gazi - better for earlier nights or when you want a bar atmosphere rather than a full club experience.
Pireos Street
The former industrial corridor running from the city centre toward Piraeus. Bios is anchored here. A more arts-oriented section of the city - house events sit alongside exhibitions, theatre, and film screenings in the same buildings.

What to Know Before You Go

Summer Riviera
Bolivar and Island are strictly seasonal (May–September). Transport is essential - they're 15-30 minutes from central Athens by taxi. Consider sharing a taxi back at the end of the night; the Riviera road is active with other club-goers.
Winter / Year-round
Gazi and Kerameikos are active year-round. The underground circuit (Dybbuk, Ohm, Bios) runs Friday and Saturday. Most weeks there's at least one quality house or deep electronic night somewhere in the city.
Timing
Athens clubs open midnight but peak 2am-5am. The Riviera beach clubs start earlier in summer (10pm openings for sunset sets) but run the same late hours. Don't arrive before midnight expecting a full room.
Cost
Underground club entry: €8-15. Riviera beach clubs: €15-25, sometimes including a drink. International headliner nights at either: €20-35. Drinks €8-12 citywide.
Transport
Metro runs until 2am (midnight on weekdays). Taxis and Bolt are active until dawn. For the Riviera, plan the return trip before you go - cabs can be scarce at 4am along the coast road.

Common Questions

Is Athens good for house music?
Yes. Athens has a year-round underground house scene in Gazi and Kerameikos, and a summer beach club circuit on the Athens Riviera (Bolivar, Island, Akrotiri) that hosts major international DJ bookings from May to September. The Riviera nights in particular have become significant events on the European summer circuit - Bolivar and Island have booked the same calibre of acts you'd expect at Ibiza's B-list clubs, at lower prices and with a more authentic crowd.
What's the best house music club in Athens?
For summer: Bolivar Beach Club on the Athens Riviera is the standout. Sea views, proper sound, consistent international bookings from May to September. For year-round underground: Dybbuk in Gazi is the most consistently programmed house and deep electronic room in the city. Bios on Pireos Street is the most eclectic - a cultural space with DJ nights that lean house and disco alongside its arts programme.
When does Bolivar open in Athens?
Bolivar Beach Club opens seasonally - typically late April or early May and closes in late September or early October, depending on the year. Opening and closing parties are major events. The main season is June, July, and August when the club runs its biggest bookings. Check Mood's Athens calendar for Bolivar's active dates and upcoming events.
What's the difference between Athens techno and house scenes?
The scenes overlap significantly in venues - Dybbuk, Ohm, and several Gazi clubs programme both. The distinction is in crowd and timing: house nights tend to run a bit earlier (midnight start rather than 1am) and draw a slightly more mixed crowd. The Riviera beach circuit is almost entirely house and melodic electronic rather than techno. The serious techno circuit (Kerameikos corridor, Dybbuk on techno nights) is darker and runs later. Many Athens regulars move between both depending on the night.
How do I get to Athens Riviera clubs?
The Riviera clubs (Bolivar, Island, Akrotiri) are 15-30 minutes south of central Athens by taxi or Bolt. There's a tram line (Line 5) that runs to Glyfada, walkable from some venues, but it stops running around midnight - too early for the main part of the night. Taxi or rideshare is the practical option. Sharing a cab back with other clubbers at 4am is common and the easiest way to manage the return trip.
