Indian Folk-concerten en liveshows in London

Indian folk music encompasses a vast array of regional traditions rooted in the diverse cultural landscapes of the Indian subcontinent, originating primarily from agrarian and tribal communities. This genre typically features traditional acoustic instruments such as the dholak, harmonium, ektara, and bansuri, emphasizing organic textures and rhythmic vitality over electronic production. The music is characterized by its communal spirit, ranging from high-energy festive dances to soul-stirring devotional ballads, with rhythms that vary from syncopated tribal beats to steady folk patterns. Functioning as a precursor to modern Indipop, it maintains a distinct identity from Indian classical music through its reliance on oral tradition and lyrical themes focused on rural life.
