In the troubled night of Seoul on the verge of apocalypse, Niko, a penniless scriptwriter, works a part-time job as a companion for people who have lost their keys. When she can no longer satisfy her longing for true love in this once melancholic, sensual, and bustling city, she disappears. Her boyfriend Jeremy and their new friend Ji-eun start looking for the missing Niko and become entangled in a love triangle. At last, Niko finds a new, reckless, and ultimate way to express her feelings.

This movie is about a Parisian guy’s (the director’s self insert) fantasy of going to “post apocalyptic” Seoul, although nothing in the movie indicates a deviation from normal live except an un-enforced “digital lockdown”.The Parisian man doesn’t learn any Korean and has a sexy but insane gf who cuts off her arm and turns it into a record for him to listen to. He also cheats on her with her best friend.Stupid ass movie
The vibes were entirely my thing. I’ve never spent significant time in Seoul, and French director Julien Levy really captured what my Western unfamiliar ass wants to imagine Seoul would be like as the world ends, not with a bang but with a regimented series of lockdowns. Cyberpunk at its most classic. Asia as romanticized SF setting aside…Good yearning performances, good characters. The surreal absurdity was the best part of the movie; who hasn’t felt their job was so pointless it might as well be a travel agency that only sells airline tickets between Seoul and Nairobi? The mood was good enough so that I can imagine watching this over and over again without getting bored, although I think I’d probably turn it off about ten minutes before the end most of the time, at the key needle drop.
