John Surge and the Haymakers
L.A.'s John Surge & the Haymakers weave together classic country, rock ’n’ roll, blues and folk styles into a spirited feel good blend of high energy California country. In 2023 came the release of Almost Time, an album that charted No. 32 on the Americana Music Association radio chart. The album was produced by Tommy Detamore in Floresville, Texas. In 2024, one year later comes the release of the EP Maybe You Don't Know Me featuring five songs from the band's live set. Once again the production was handled by Tommy Detamore and recorded outside San Antonio. Lonesome Highway magazine said that John Surge makes music on "the right side of retro country with an eye to the future, perfecting a personal vision of the music that came from the likes of the Palomino Club in its heyday in L.A."
